On 3rd April, Westleigh welcomed 40 children to their 2024 Easter Hockey Camp, record numbers for the Club! What was fantastic about the attendance was that there were lots of new hockey players trying out the game for the first time across all ages from 5 year olds to 13 year olds! We also had some of the club’s own experienced juniors and other junior hockey players from our good friends at Charnwood Forest Hockey Club – great to see this interaction between the junior players and with some friendly rivalry too!
Luckily, the weather held for the most part and a fun packed day of hockey was had by all. The day was spent with a mixture of skills work and matches and there was even a Goalkeeper station where all the players could try out being in goal!
It was a good day for Westleigh’s Young Leaders as well with over ten leaders there on the day providing great guidance and support for the juniors and help for the three Level 2 Coaches running the camp. The engagement and help our Young Leaders give our junior section is something that the Club is immensely proud of – well done them!
