Tuesday 19th March

The Annual General Meeting of England Hockey will be held on Tuesday 19 March 2019 at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre, Bisham, Marlow, Bucks at 7.30 pm. Refreshments will be served from 7 pm.

The Accounts of the company, the Annual Report, the report of the Auditors and the formal Notice of the AGM will be circulated with any ballot papers for the election of officers & non-executive directors, on or around 22 February 2019.

The following positions are due for election this year:

1) President
Sue Bodycomb has completed her final term and is therefore required to stand down. The Board would like to pay tribute to Sue’s passion for the sport and commitment to the role which have been so evident during her time as President. Nominations are therefore invited for the vacant role of President.

2) Vice-President (male)
Chris Todd, the existing Vice-President (male), very sadly died in 2018 after a long and distinguished time in hockey. Nominations are therefore also sought for this vacant role.

The closing date by which nominations for these positions must have been received at England Hockey’s offices at Bisham Abbey is 7th February 2019. Nominations must be in the form required by the Articles of Association. They must be made by a Regional or County Association, or by an affiliated Club (but in that case they must be seconded by a Regional or County Association). The nomination must be accompanied (Article 90) by “a statement describing the experience and suitability of the candidate, together with a notice signed by that person of his/her willingness to be appointed and his/her intention to fulfill the requirements of the post if so appointed”. The statement should be in Ariel, size 11 font, to ensure consistency across all the statements which will be put before the members. Applicants are also required to provide a CV no longer than 2 x A4 pages in Ariel, size 11 font. Statement forms, along with the details of the roles and the skills and qualities being sought are available on the England Hockey website www.englandhockey.co.uk/agm.

Under the Articles, voting in all elections is now exclusively by postal ballot, which can be conducted electronically. A copy of the company’s Articles can also be accessed on the website. This document can be found under the: Governing Body/About England Hockey/What We Do/Governance section from the home page.

If any member Clubs or Associations have any resolutions which they would wish to see put to the AGM then they are invited to submit any draft resolution to the Board no later than 7th February. If the Board considers such resolution appropriate then the Board may give notice of the resolution to member Clubs and Associations as is required before any such resolution comes before the AGM. Alternatively members can secure the required support of voting members for their resolution provided due notice is given to the Company Secretary so that notice of the resolution can be included in the final calling notice.
