Leicester Westleigh Ladies 1s 6–1 Towcestrians 3s - Saturday 19th September

What a way to start the season! Leicester Westleigh Ladies 1s are off to a fantastic start with a 6–1 victory over Towcestrians 3s.

From the outset, we put the skills that we’d worked on in training into practice. We focused on looking up before passing, accuracy and communication, which really paid off. The team showed great composure and confidence in possession, creating plenty of opportunities throughout the game. We went into an early lead after Meg scored from a short corner. We continued our lead in the first half, scoring from another two short corners (Lexie & Meg) and an excellent shot from Beth, which left us 4-0 up at half time.

Early into the second half came another shot from Beth, who was making light work of sprinting down the pitch and keeping composure in front of the keeper! However, the team started to tire, and we lost a little structure to our formation, which allowed Towcestrians 3s to get on the scoresheet. Then in came Becky K, who managed to get her first yellow card ? of the season with a questionable tackle!! ? BUT, we didn’t let this affect us. With some steam still left in us, we won another short corner and another goal from Beth meant she got her first hattrick of the season! ✨

The final score was Leicester Westleigh Ladies 1s 6–1 Towcestrians 3s - an excellent result! ?

There are plenty of positives to take from the game, with some fantastic work all round the pitch, now we’re looking forward to building on this performance, improving our fitness, and continuing to develop as a team throughout the season. ??

Well done, ladies! What a start?
