Westleigh Under 8s Fantastic Again!

Sunday morning, Leicester Westleigh took some of our Under 8's to a local club to participate in the next instalment of junior tournaments. Sunday was bright and cool. A lot like the Westleigh Under 8's. Our first game was against a team who looked ready but as soon as young Maxwell got the ball, he drove it down the line proving too strong for the opposition before slotting home our first goal of the tournament. Darcy then started to show the skills by rolling out, pull backs and composed passing

Once Maxwell scored, then everyone wanted to get in on the action and in the blink of an eye the final whistle had gone with Westleigh finishing 10-0 victors.

Second game was against a slightly stronger Ashby side but again, the youngsters were fired up and ready for more. A different formation balanced the game slightly but Westleigh again finished 4-0 victors.

After a short break, some team building and a minor collision, or commitment to get the ball, we were back in action. This time, young Nathan was leading out from the front and was eventually rewarded with his first goal of the day. Some great team play and great contributions from Emmett & Alex, Westleigh eventually finished 7-0.

Westleigh then had back to back games for the remainder of the morning and finished with another 7-0, then 3-0 and finally 3-0.

Overall tournament winners with some superb team play, passing and driving hard. This was evident in that every player got on the scoresheet with the final tally:

Maxwell Fleming 12 goals
Darcey Parkes 8 goals
Alex Sibson 3 goals
Solomon Barney 8 goals
Emmett Jeffries 1 goal
Nathan Nagi 2 goals

Most difficult part of my day was trying to contend with Solomon's excitement on the side lines. He was practically fizzing! In one game he was setting up for a side line ball and looked like he was going to aerial it across the pitch! DD would have been proud! I was slightly more concerned.

Thank you to the youngsters for taking part and demonstrating some really good hockey and thank you to the family supporters. It helps with the kids immensely and of course gives them an audience to perform celebrations in front of!!!!"
