Leicester Westleigh’s 1st XI got off to a great start to the new season with a 5-1 home victory over the University of Warwick. Westleigh started brightly by scoring a well worked goal from a short corner with a goal from Damon Fleming. However Westleigh didn’t build on this and were very sloppy in possession. Warwick caught us on the break scoring an equaliser. Westleigh then went 2-1 up with another brilliantly worked short corner with Simon James scoring. Westleigh should of gone in at half time 3-1 up with Josh Noon not finishing off a well worked opportunity (might of had something to do with his serious case of man flu). After discussing Westleigh’s below par performance in the first half they came out and put in a much better performance in the second half. They slowed the game down and were much better in possession. George Ireson finished off some well worked attacks scoring a hat-trick in the second half!
MOM went to Dave Sibson with a fantastic performance at the back. Consistently winning the ball back and distributing it up the field.
DOD went to Josh Noon for the missed opportunity in the first half.
