As usual, we began the game in typical Westleigh fashion; slow, timid and quiet. The oppo were finding it easy to work the ball down their right-hand side and, after some precarious defending, managed to slot the ball home. 1-0 to Berkswell.
Heads were down and we were in need of some inspiration. Some better play from Westleigh saw the ball being distributed across the middle of the park to Tinson who then played the ball to Willi. A burst of speed allowed Willi to prance past the defender and a quintessential 'one handed' reverse slap from the top of the D gave Westleigh the equaliser.

Some more hockey happened and then the whistle blew for half time.

Huddled around sheepishly, we began discussing the pro's & con's of the first half. It was clear that we had not been loud enough on the pitch and this was showing in our positioning in both attack & defence.

With a clearer picture of what we wanted to achieve, Westleigh started the second half with more confidence. Passing the ball around a lot more freely and solid commands coming from McGuinness at the back.

Josh received the ball on the right, slid past a couple of players and passed the ball to Hinsley in the D. With back to goal, Hinsley managed to turn on the spot and hit the ball through the defender, who was blocking the keeper's view. 1-2 to Westleigh.

Westleigh found themselves taking numerous short corners in the second half and, even though they looked good in practice, couldn't seem to find the back of the net.
After more good spells from defence, the ball found its way to Stan's stick. With a bit of quick thinking, Stan got the ball to Willi who slotted it home to extend Westleigh's lead. 1-3.

A much improved second half gave Westleigh the 3 points. Well deserved.

MoM: James Woolley - Solid all round and should definitely be playing 2s as a regular.
DoD: Sam Hinsley - after McGuinness managed to find a 50yard pass, with pin point accuracy, Sam ended up fluffing a 1-1 with the keeper.
