Today had the visit of Melton. After two wins already and a squad featuring many senior players it looked like it would be a tough afternoon. The start did not go well within 15 minutes we were 3 - 0 down. Westleigh were not in the game, even Dave let a ball go hoping for a foul, whereas the star player from Melton smashed it high away from Sam.
After some talking (shouting from Dave ) the team seemed to regroup and what could have been many goals half time came still 3-0. Problem with the play was players poor passing and running into sticks. Only star was Lochlan who ran on angles allowing him to lay the ball off. There were lessons to learn. Stern words from skipper at half time again about first touch and NOT running into sticks. Think that's covered. But the second half like the first match did see huge spirit and effort cheered on and some coaching on pressuring the play. This was done very well in fact one great thing marking overall got much better which meant Melton made mistakes. Lots to learn from today. We did come close, Rob having a shot cleared off the line and Dave being stopped twice by the keeper. It could have been different but the game ended 4-0.
Second half stars for me William who had a consistent game and Sam Edwards who made some good saves and positive play.
Man of the match hard but for second half and what Melton said it goes to Sam Edwards.
DOD for shouting but mainly putting the ball straight in the D after moaning someone else did it's Dave again.
Lots to work on at training. So positive Tuesday if we train to win we will do Saturday. Got some good stuff planned. Away next week 14.30 at Burton
