Westleigh 3s v Burton 5s
With the first away game of the new year and at last the weather not too bad, it was set for another double on a Burton club after beating Barton last match. Burton did look a weaker side and certainly proved to be. Sadly, sometimes you can lower your standards and that we certainly did. With poor passing , reactions and marking. After a change for the striker giving Jack his first men’s match, he soon got Westleigh in front with a well taken first time slap. Jack continued the good work throughout the game with more time. I believe he is going to be a good striker. Again sloppy play let Burton in and they were in on goal. Garin again a first start in Men’s went to kick but got no power on it. Sadly, gave it away and passed over the goal for a tap in. Right idea and again he will learn. With Westleigh the better side but making hard work of it, it took the skipper to step up drive into the D and smash the ball in the net. This was followed again by a second after good team passing.
Second half was a much better display with better movement and passing. Josh got into the game and made the pass of the game but sadly it didn’t get the goal it deserved. Again this was the ongoing problem but goals did come through Riley with a tap in and Ryan’s effort eventually got him a goal. Garin did make a key save to keep Westleigh in firm control. Another tactical move was to move senior Martin to left back which secured up the defence. Dave tried hard to get his hattrick hitting the post twice. Well done and the new players did very well.
Local rivals next week - Leicester City - let's get another double on them.
